Daniel’s Self-Supported Ultra Run from Hamburg to München

1.  Hi Daniel! Could you introduce yourself and tell us a bit about your life background?

Hey! I’m Daniel, an ultra-runner, content creator, and hybrid athlete based in Hamburg. My background actually started in modeling and sports, but over the last few years, I completely shifted my focus toward extreme endurance challenges and pushing my physical and mental limits. Through my social media, I share the raw, unfiltered journey of taking on massive projects, aiming to show people what’s possible when you just commit and put in the work.

2.  How and why did you first start running, and what made you fall in love with endurance sports?

I originally started running as a way to challenge myself mentally and build discipline beyond the gym. What made me fall in love with endurance sports was the absolute honesty of it: you can’t fake a long run. There’s a special kind of clarity that comes when you’ve been on your feet for hours, stripped of all distractions, facing only your own thoughts. It became less about the physical sweat and more about discovering who I am when things get tough.

3. What inspired you to take on such a massive project as running 776 km from Hamburg to München?

I wanted to test what happens when you take away the safety net. Running across Germany wasn’t just about covering distance; it was a self-experiment to see if I could handle a full marathon-plus every single day, completely self-supported. I wanted to create something bigger than just a workout, a story that inspires others to break out of their daily routines and attempt things that seem completely crazy at first.

4. Since this was a completely self-supported run, what were the biggest logistical and mental challenges of covering around 45 km every single day for over two weeks?

Logistically, the hardest part was managing recovery and gear on the fly finding places to sleep, taking care of nutrition, and keeping my feet in working order every single night after burning thousands of calories. Mentally, the toughest challenge was waking up every morning knowing you have another 45 km ahead of you, with sore legs and zero excuses. Breaking the day down into small, manageable segments was the only way to survive.

5. Running nearly 800 km takes a huge physical and mental toll. What went through your mind during the hardest moments on the road?

In the darkest moments, when every step hurt and my body was screaming to stop, I reminded myself why I started. I kept telling myself I’m doing it for the people who doesn’t believe in me. You realize very quickly that your mind always wants to give up long before your body actually reaches its limit. Reframing the struggle as a necessary part of the growth kept me moving forward.

6.  Looking back, what is one memory from the run that will stay with you forever?

The moment I finally reached München and realized the journey was over. Crossing that invisible finish line after weeks of solitude, pain, and endless asphalt was an overwhelming feeling of gratitude. Also, all the small interactions with strangers along the road who tracked the run online or cheered me on gave me energy I’ll never forget.

7. What are your next big goals in running and life?

I’m always looking for the next extreme limit whether that’s longer ultra-distances, tougher terrains, or international endurance projects. In life, my goal is to keep building my brand, inspiring a strong community, and working with partners who share the same vision of relentless growth and authenticity.
