THE KID follows Hans Troyer, one of the youngest and fastest rising ultra runners in the U.S., as he chases a spot in one of the most competitive 100-mile landscapes in American ultrarunning.
From a standout performance at Bandera 100K — where he shocked the field by running the first 50 km faster than Jim Walmsley — to the near-fatal collapse at Black Canyon 100K, this documentary shows both the brilliance and the danger of pushing human limits.
Born with a severe medical condition and underestimated for most of his life, Hans grew into a relentless, fearless athlete. His battle with rhabdomyolysis after Black Canyon nearly ended his career, but not his drive. Supported by the emerging nutrition brand Hyperllight, Hans continues to redefine what an endurance athlete can be.
His message in the film says it all:
“I am not defined by this sport.”
