SuperNova isn’t just a film about running — it’s about connection, trust, and the extraordinary bond between a man and his dog. Meet Nova, a 7-year-old Hungarian Vizsla, who has been inseparable from her ultra-running dad, Evan Birch, since she was a puppy. Alongside her crew chief mom, Cassie Hawrysh, Nova has spent years learning the trails, the rhythms of the run, and the unspoken magic of moving together.
In February 2025, Evan and Nova are taking on their biggest adventure yet: The Orcas Island 100 Miler. With 8,200 meters of elevation spread over four grueling 25-mile loops, and late winter conditions bringing rain, fog, wind, mud, and long hours of darkness, this race will test their endurance, resilience, and bond like never before.
SuperNova is more than a story about a start or a finish line. It’s a love letter to the impact dogs have on our lives, a testament to instinct, partnership, and the pure joy of sharing a journey with a companion who trusts you completely.
As Evan and Nova push themselves toward the limits of what seems possible, we’re reminded that the trails we run with those we love — whether human or canine — are the ones that leave the deepest mark.
